Last Chance...

I will be deleting this blog on Monday – so for all you rabid fans this is your last chance... after that you will have to content yourselves with my Sleepless in the Suburbs blog... Sign in to see full entry.

You Learn Something New Everyday!

(A repost from last year at this time... sorry I'm lazy today) It froze overnight here. When I was taking the girls out this morning there was frost on the car windows. But something else happened. There were little snowballs all over the yard and on top of the fence and car. They looked like hail –... Sign in to see full entry.

The Mommy Myth

Before I had children of my own I thought that there was some kind of switch that got turned on at the birth of a child that helped the mother understand the constant and confusing babbling of a toddler. I'll tell you right now, it doesn't exist. At least not in me. I've gone through this with two... Sign in to see full entry.

Shirt Bumps and Other Preschool Mysteries

Rachel looked at me, then back at her doll, while she touched her new toy's clothes. “ Mommy, why does this shirt have bumps in it?” “ The shirt doesn't have bumps, it's your dolls chest.” Now we have been trying to use correct anatomical words for body parts with the girls – I know it is important... Down At The Old Swimmin' Hole

Ah, water! Must be that 98% of us that is water that draws us to it, to submerge ourselves in water. I know that for Rachel and Emily tubby time is the highlight of the day. They splash and play, float on stomachs and back and pretend they are swimming. Why won't they do that at the pool then,... Sign in to see full entry.

Clearly the warning wasn’t strong enough!

(In honour of my initial attempts to potty train Emily I am reposting this classic blog I wrote when potty training her sister) The warning printed on my daughter’s potty says “Never leave child unattended.” What it should say is: If for some reason you have to dash around the corner to the kitchen... Look What I Found

A Picture of Emily, holding my thumb as she fell asleep. I had forgotten about this picture. I think I'll get it framed for my desk (when I get an office!) Sign in to see full entry.

I Have To Get Her Into This School

I called the school office on Friday. The secretary told me that registration for kindergarten starts at 8:00am - the school opens at 7:30... “Some parents come early.” she hinted broadly. I have to get Rachel registered at this school. This is the only school that will transfer to our new community... Sign in to see full entry.

Ants Mats Anyone?

I can't believe how time is flying. Both my little girls are getting older. I'm off to register Rachel for kindergarten on Monday (that's a shock) and Emily is talking non-stop. Her Japanese/Elmer Fudd accent is slowly disappearing. I'm already starting to miss the sweet little things that she used... Sign in to see full entry.

Sharing A Little Magic: Winter Rainbow

I was taking Rachel to preschool, with Emily singing, as she nearly always does, in her car seat. There had been ice fog in the morning, and the crystals still hung in the cold air. As we came to the bottom of our street the sun peeked over the ridge and suddenly there was a bright sparkling rainbow... Sign in to see full entry.
