Kelly's Adventures in Realty

Kelly will soon enter the real world. No longer will she live in her room, surrounded by mutilated dolls. She will borrow a friends spare room for the month of June, and then sleep in a bed in the laundry room, while his mother spends her yearly visit. John's brothers take turns caring for their... Progress Means

That the mentally ill no longer live on backwards, but on the street. Progress means that instead of being locked up for years in the hospital, they are locked up for years in prison. Progress means that instead of being considered demon possessed, we consider them to be serial killers and... Sign in to see full entry.

Superior Court at Harborview Hall

Kelly is now on a fourteen day commitment. How a fourteen day commitment will help her, I don't know. She's been on medication almost continuously for eight months and is gradually getting worse. She probably isn't taking medication in the hospital. In order for Kelly to get well, she must be... Sign in to see full entry.

There the city determines whether my daughter and all the others who are on involuntary holds in King County, should be committed for a longer period of time or released. Mother guilt crept in. I was happy that instead of my daughter having to walk on the interstate, she could get... Sign in to see full entry.

Trauma and Drama

Kelly is going through the stage of recovery. it is different from other times since she didn't come out of the hospital relatively clear. This time hospitalization didn't do anything positive for her. It did help her in one respect. She stopped running away since she was afraid that the police... Sign in to see full entry.

A Better System

I have thought a lot about what i would like instead of the present system. I would like to have a community of people with mental illness, retired people, recovering drug addicts, and people who like to help. In this community, everyone would have their own place. For some that would be a studio... Sign in to see full entry.

Inadequate consequences

Our society does not know how or want to deal with the mentally ill. Our society's solution is to hand the mentally ill person to the family or leave them on the street. For example, last night my daughter took her sister's credit card and finally ended up at Fred Meyer. There she spent four hours... Sign in to see full entry.
