AM I HANDLING IT WELL?
A number of people have told me that I have been handling my daughter's broken arm and subsequent surgery for pin insertion very well. Am I? I think that if I am handling it well, it is all because of my darling daughter. Now if she were a blubbering mess and cranky and whiney and complaining about...

PURPLE CAST
For those who want to know... Sarah Update: We went to the orthopedist’s office yesterday (4/25/05). They took three x-rays and said she was healing very well. They took her splint etc. off and we saw the pins sticking out of her arm… ugh. We tried to keep Sarah from seeing, but she did and she was...

My nephew had his colonoscopy yesterday and they determined that he has ulcerative colitis. They are keeping him in the hospital over the weekend to keep the IV in him and make sure he is well hydrated and to start a steroid drip. They want to jumpstart his eating and make sure he is on the road to...

HE IS IN THE HOSPITAL
is my family cursed or something?! My 15-year old nephew has been sick for a month. This young man has been terribly afraid of doctors, needles, etc. all his life. They used to have to hold him down to give him his immunization shots. He has been to a few different doctors over the last few weeks....

CAN YOU BELIEVE, SHE FELL AGAIN!!?!?!
For the last two years, we have taken Sarah to “Baby Lab” held by the physical therapy department at one of our local colleges. SHE FELL
As I was coming home from work last night - my Sarah and hubbie, Wayne, were playing outside. We were to make the switch - I come home from work - he goes to work. He and Sarah don't have school (he works in a school and she attends daycare that follows the school schedule) so he is home during the...

PINS IN THE ARM
The second doctor we saw was very concerned about Sarah's arm. She had an x-ray taken of her arm - a very specific view. She told us that yes two of her three growth plates are affected by this break (the first dr. told us no they were not affected). She said that there was a part of her bone that...

New Doctor
Today we will see a different doctor. I have heard good things about her and she is an upper extremity specialist. I plan to let our primary doctor know how unhappy we were with the one doctor. Any ideas on who else I should notify? I think it is important to keep our doctor's accountable for how...

"FELL SWING BROKE ARM"
Those are the words of my daughter Sarah. In my words... she fell of a swing and broke her arm just above the elbow. It is not a bad break... it is what is known as a "greenstick" fracture (A fracture in which one side of a bone is broken while the other is bent - like a green stick). Sarah fell of...

Sarah at age 2 years 2 months
My darling Sarah is growing up so fast! All you parents out there know exactly what I mean. Her language has really taken off in the last few months. We can hold nearly intelligent (albeit, short) conversations with her. We are going to Hershey Park, PA and Amish country with my parents this...
