April showers

It's been a beautiful Mothering Sunday in the east of England with lots of sunshine but a few April showers as well. We have a Mini convertible so I had the hood down today and grinned broadly I passed walkers and joggers. Actually it was still quite cold and my smile was probably more of a... In a good place

I'm feeling in a good place this evening. Claire came first and second in her ballet sol and character solos at the nearby dance festival today. Her character is a new piece, based on Joan of Arc tending her sheep but hearing voices in her head that are calling her to arms to fight for France.... Sign in to see full entry.

Catching up

Life has been even more hectic than ever lately which is why I haven't posted on Blogit for so long. I haven't updated any of my other blogs for ages either! Client work has kept me really busy and I've had two bumper months in February and March. My initial contract runs out in December so I'm... Sign in to see full entry.

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Do you remember this song by The Small Faces? I remember a disc jockey, Anne Nightingale, playing it on Radio One on Sunday afternoons during my first term at university more than thirty years ago and I've always loved it. Today I was humming it to myself as I went for a walk across the fields in... Sign in to see full entry.

Buy in the sunshine

It's been a beautiful day here in East Anglia today. However, though it was sunny, it was still very cold outside so the best place to view the early orange and white blossom against cloudless blue skies was our conservatory. I have a new regime now in that I do existing client work in the mornings... Sign in to see full entry.

Change of plans

Firstly many thanks for all of your kind and supportive comments; I'm out of that reflective lull now I'm pleased to say. We had a great birthday weekend. After some lovely cards and little gifts we headed down to spend the day with Ivan in Guildford on Friday and then part of the surprise was that... Sign in to see full entry.

Tiring client

It's been tiring working for one of my clients, offering web support this week. In one way it's nice to be immersed in their systems again - many of which I built - but in others it's frustrating. My colleague who now runs web development is very much an engineer: he fixes things as he goes along.... Sign in to see full entry.

CDs?

Thanks for your comments yesterday. Regarding the lady who preferred to stay in the dressing room rather than watch her own daughter dance, I can understand why some comments came in regarding not knowing the full story etc and putting it down to finance. I assure you I wouldn't have mentioned it... Sign in to see full entry.

What is two pounds worth?

We've been at the dance festival in Sudbury this weekend. We drove there and back yesterday, today and will do again tomorrow. Susan has various pupils performing solos and duets and would never consider not being there to help them to prepare and to support them. Claire won her character ballet... Political intrigue

It's good to get to the end of another busy week isn't it? I've been working on web support for a client (my former employers) this week so have become immersed in the process and, sadly, the politics of that place. Max Weber was certainly right about bureaucratic structures and I thank God that he... Sign in to see full entry.
