The sun has stopped shining

Our 'Indian Summer' in the east of England has ended and we have been plunged into wind and rain more akin to October. I can't help but think that this is a metaphor for my father, with winter approaching fast. I'm sorry not to have written recently but it has been quite difficult. My Dad is back at... Thank you

Thank you for all your messages of support and understanding. It's great to receive them and know that you think we're following the right path at this difficult time. I toook my Mum in to the hospital to see my Dad yesterday afternoon. He wasn't looking too bad in himself but the blood (platelet)... Sign in to see full entry.

Back but only for a while

I'm sorry not to have posted for so long. Things have been even busier here than usual. Susan has been preparing for her new term (no improvement with the anorexia case as yet), as have each of the children - Christian is at a new sixth form college in Cambridge - and the usual frustrations over... Sunday Sunday

Firstly many thanks for all your kind comments on my post regarding anorexia. We haven't heard from the parents so are assuming the worst and that the little girl has been taken into a secure unit. I wonder too whether this might not be the best course of action for her and have experts help her to... Sign in to see full entry.

Anorexia

Susan has had quite a trying couple of days because one of her pupils - 13 years old - has anorexia and is at the point of being sectioned, which means she could be put into a mental home tomorrow, initially for four months. We have known the family of the little girl in question for many years and... Sign in to see full entry.

Busy bees

Susan and I have been madly busy since getting back from France. Susan is training to become a dance examiner which is a five-year haul but will mean that eventually she can combine teaching with examining other schools in the region and then further afield. It would be a flexible lifestyle we could... Sign in to see full entry.

Consolidation

It's been a day of consolidation today, in readiness for getting going again after our holiday. The curious thing is that I've just been able to dive on to client sites and make content amends/uploads and so on without waiting for the Monday-Friday commute. I still get off on the fact that I am not... Sign in to see full entry.

La Belle France

Got back from France last night after a few relaxing days away. Unfortunately, we didn't have Wi-Fi access or, at least, we did but our devices kept pretending they couldn't connect properly! We were at a fairly small hotel in Perpignan, right down on the Mediterranean coast and a few miles from the... Sign in to see full entry.

End

We had a great end to the week. Claire and her friends came to stay for a tea of pizza, salad, garlic bread and fun. Ivan was home and also Christian so our kitchen was full of light and laughter and we had three hours of just happy being alive. We have a large kitchen table and Susan and I always... It's poetry in motion

Thank you again for all your feedback on my poetry - it's so good to have such positive feedback from fellow writers! I'm thrilled that two people have now added brief reviews on the amazon.co.uk site. If any of you could do the same on this or amazon.com I would really appreciate it as I know it...
