The Gloves Are Off...
War has been declared. Each side digging deep in the trenches. The battlecries have been sung out. I've had it, and am not tolerating it any longer. My youngest son came home with a swollen wrist from a soccer game at his after school center. Luckily it wasn't broken, merely sprained. We sent him to school with a sling for a couple of days, iced it at night, and the swelling subsided. His teacher, whom I still think looks very similar in nature to a troll, with a meaner disposition, grabbed him,...

70 Pound Weakling-0; Muscleman-1
I hadn't realized a comeback of the comic ads of the 98 pound wimp kicking sand in the muscle man's face, but it must be somewhere. My wounded son decided he could take advantage of his wrist to talk smack to not just one but two older boys. His plan failed miserably. After calling them names, which they probably rightfully deserved, he then played on the fact that he was hurt, and expected them to take his ridicule without incident. Instead, they drop slammed him with a move I'm sure they've...

Great Healing Powers for a Pele Wannabe
My little soccer player is on the disabled list right now. I've been lucky having actually spent very little time in the emergency room, considering the psychotic stunts that I've witnessed over the years. This time it's a sprained wrist. Apparently he tripped while running to kick the ball, falling on his wrist. I have no doubt that his arm hurts, seeing him after it happened brought back the pain of having a spained ankle as a child. Although I can imagine the pain, I'm beginning to believe...

The Tooth Fairy Has Been Unmasked
Mr. Maturity has still got the kid in his heart. We've been teetering on the fence over whether the Tooth Fariy and Santa Claus are real. Every year we go through the "I know who the tooth fairy REALLY is." conversation. I'm accused, I deny the allegation with a logical argument of how it could not be me. I use the same tactics I've learned from the master, distract and divert. The master tires of the argument, and moves on to the next thing that captures his attention. It happened yet again...

A New Conspiracy Theory...
It all makes sense now. I've found the real reason for the "Amber Alert" signs on the freeways. The bonds were approved under the assumption that we were helping keep children safe. Who wouldn't want to help pass a bond, at any cost to assure the safe return of a kidnapped or missing child. Those that wrote the measure knew they could tug at our heart strings, for millions of dollars. Today, I discovered the ulterior motive for these signs. You know the ones, that tower above the roadways, lit...

Why Can't We All Just Get Along
I've begun a job that has taken me from my five minute commute to one hour each way. The bets are beginning to roll in for "How long will it take for me to become full of road rage." This has started because most people that know me, know that I am a very patient, kind person who does not become angry easily. Don't think I never get angry, no, I've been known to reach full on rage from time to time, tunnelvision takes over and all around me is a fog. To my defense, this doesn't happen...

Medical Care Costs These Days...
Panic took over the house last night. We arrived home to find Mouzer laying on the floor, looking less than her usual regal self. Daniel, while attempting to delay his shower time, went to check on her, noticing a spot on her chest. He kept asking me what was wrong with her? I was too frustrated with his stall tactics, that I shrugged off the request to check on her. OK, so I'm also a whimp when it comes to the sight of blood or wounded animals. Finally he was led to Jonathan who came to...

Shhh...The Enemy Might Get The Wrong Idea
I would love to stay out of politics, whether in the office or in Washington, but sometimes, it's impossible to avoid either. I just saw the following excerpt from Bill Frist. Frist, appearing on ABC's "This Week," said that he hoped al-Qaida and other enemies of the U.S. were not listening to the infighting. "The signal that it sends, that there is in any way a lack of support for our commander in chief who is leading us with a bold vision in a way that is making our homeland safer, is wrong,"...

Cold, Callous World
The life lesson I've learned recently is that rudeness comes in all shapes and sizes. From elderly women, to parents with children. I've almost been taken out by a sweet looking, little elderly woman, who then looked at me as if I was to blame for her carelessness. It's apparent in most school parking lots. If you still doubt this truth, visit a local arcade. For sometime I was curious about how rudeness begins. It begins with parents teaching their children. Recently we were at the batting...

Class Clown
A few posts back, I told you about my life as a "Roadie". Today I traded in my roadie status for class clown. Nine years ago today, my youngest son was born. I was able to surprise him with a birthday party in the classroom. I must admit there were alterior motives to my decision to put on a child's party at school. I've spent countless hours at the school this year. More time in the principal's office than some students. Generally when I meet with administrators and teachers, they see the...
