Hey You! Take A Hike!
Never before have we had such a high percentage of fat and overweight people in this country. One of the reasons given for that is that we are more sedentary than were our ancestors who ate plenty of fat, but burned it off through a more active lifestyle. They ploughed. They planted. They forged....

This Blogger Is Writing On Borrowed Time
To say that I’m technologically challenged would be a dramatic understatement. How I’m able to type this on a computer is more a testament to my stubbornness than my skills. Perhaps I feel inadequate with this device because, honestly, I dislike gadgets in general, believing them to be the offspring...

Life Among The Rats---- And The Hamsters And The Guinea Pigs And The . . .
My 12-year-old buddy Jesse just acquired three hamsters. He said that a friend gave them to him. His friend, he added, has 47 of the little rodents. Dirty Thoughts From Someone Who Just Doesn't Get It
As I shoveled, planted, and mulched today, I realized that, sometimes, I just don’t get it. For example, I don’t understand why a waitress always will ask me, “Do you want cheese on that?” when I order a hamburger. If I did, wouldn’t I have ordered a cheese burger? (Yes, I realize the real...

Destruction All Around This Blogger's Home
Downed trees and live power lines littered this road near my home following Sunday's super-cell thunderstorms. Utility company killed power to the lines so crews could clear the trees from the road. Those lines flapped all about as I took this photo. Not dangerous, but unsettling nevertheless....

Toppled Tree Narrowly Misses Blogger's Mother
This is but one of hundreds of trees broken or torn out of the ground by the super-cell thunderstorms that passed through my area on Sunday afternoon. This ancient cedar tree fell across my mother's yard from a neighbor's, narrowly missing both her house and her detached garage. It completely...
