Child Abuse -- It Sucks (to Put it Mildly . . . .)

I did my first abuse eval today. On a child, a very sweet tempered, beautiful little girl. Someone very special to her beat up on her. The abuse has primarily been verbal (to the whole family) but occasionally he lashes out and causes physical harm. Not that verbal abuse is any less painful, of... Sign in to see full entry.

Uh Oh . . . . Screeching and Wailing Noises From A Blogger Near YOU!

Yup, it's finally happening. JanesO is going to fulfill a wish she's had for a long time... learning to play the cello. Go out and buy some ear plugs. You'll need them for awhile. Ha! In all seriousness, I'm hoping it won't be THAT bad. I play the piano and French horn and according to my horn... Sign in to see full entry.

On A Phishing Expotition We Go --

Isn't that what Poo Bear did? He went on "expotitions"?? Well I've experienced my first phishing expotition type disaster and it certainly taught me a lesson. I've been receiving a lot of spoof phishing letters lately from fraudulent people with domain names that end in.ru and other foreign type URL... Sign in to see full entry.

Flogging A Blogger When She's Already Down -- Who Woulda Thunk It???

It has been an ongoing saga, with every hair cut, hearing the details as they unfolded from my beautician. This time the news was appalling, and JanesO was left entirely speechless. As snippets of blonde hair went flying, my mouth was wide open in amazement as I stared in the mirror at the gal... Sign in to see full entry.

Death Comes Knocking With Gale Force Winds . . . . .

Something like that. It's been horrifically windy here in West Michigan for the past few days with wind gusts beyond 50 miles per hour. Temps in the 30s-40s with a wind chill into the 20s. Today, though, it's merely a stiff breeze, 43 degrees with the sun occasionally peeking through the clouds.... Sign in to see full entry.

One of Those Sleepy Monday Mornings . . . .

Overcast and cool, it's a typical fall day here in West Michigan and JanesO is having difficulty motivating. The wind is gently blowing, and each time there's a puff of breeze, the golden leaves from one of my trees waft to the ground with the sound of rain drops. It's really quite beautiful --... Eligible Bachelors Available, Only An Email Away

Yup, that's right, I know a few men who would be -- for the right women -- each an excellent husband. Last evening I attended a bonfire at the new home of one of these bachelors. He built much of the house himself and now it awaits only some finishing feminine touches. "Greg" is in his mid 30s, is... Sign in to see full entry.

That Warm Visceral Feeling in the Gut --

Do you get that sometimes? The sensation that life is so full and so rich, and one is so loved and all is well? I had it this evening. My family was here for dinner. I served them a "Jane's special," i.e. when my sis asked what we were having I simply looked at her and smiled, and said nothing. A... Sign in to see full entry.

ESSDOGS???

I swear, but that's the license plate I saw the other day. If I recall, the word "essen" is the German verb meaning "to eat." Please correct me if I'm wrong. So I scrounged about in my head for the conjugated forms of the verb, vaguely recalling that the phrase "I eat" in German would be "ich esse."... Sign in to see full entry.

An 11 Year Old Fixes Dinner for 11 . . . .

In my previous post I wrote about how Abbie, my 11 year old niece, was very ill while we houseboated on the Cumberland River in KY. She has made a complete recovery and is now back to her happy, cheerful and energetic self. My mother gave her homeopathic "Apis," which is a very strong scarlet fever... Sign in to see full entry.
