An issue of eyebrows

Have you ever wondered how a person’s face changes because of the shape of their eyebrows? I was sitting in a restaurant on Saturday and across my table came a family with an older woman. She may have been in her 60s. Her hair was coloured jet black. What struck me most were her eyebrows. Not only... Sign in to see full entry.

The many faces of Diwali

It's 11 PM, Diwali night. The fireworks are still going strong and I am enjoying watching them through the large sliding door to the balcony. Photo 1 is from the balcony, capturing the lights in the distance and the imploding firework in the sky. This afternoon Mahesh and I went into town to get... Sign in to see full entry.

Shawls, again

I called my friend Sheela on Sunday. As we talked she seemed to be having another conversation. It's the man who is delivering the mirror, she explained. It turns out her two sisters were visiting her and gifted her a mirror from the second hand furniture market. Where should she put it? She asked... Sign in to see full entry.

Sunrise and sunset

This morning I went for a walk and noticed something strange. The sunrsie looked like a sunset - except is was in the eastern sky. It was large and red. Delhi has been surrounded by a fine mist like dust - mostly pollution - over the last few days. So, the sun can not be seen in it's glory. Just... Sign in to see full entry.

Necessity and a bonus!

I needed to take Aloe for a walk about an hour ago. As we walked down the path, a mother peahen and two little ones crossed the path. I stopped, breath suspended. A lovely sight. I was grateful that I had brought Aloe out, just at that moment. Very providential. Have others experienced such... Sign in to see full entry.

A Gurdjieff Evening

On Friday, I went to visit my friend Carol who lives about one hour away from me. Originally from the US, she has been in India for 10 years, coming to head an organisation focusing on reproductive health. She moved from Pakistan, and before that she has worked in the Ivory Coast for many years.... Sign in to see full entry.

The joyful vacation

Last week, I was in the hills of northern India. It was a week of pure bliss. The place we chose to stay at, Bannon Resorts, was perfect. Individual cottages on two levels with rooms to accommodate two couples and a common area in the middle with a wood burning stove. Each room with a verandah with... Sign in to see full entry.

Almost in Heaven

Here are some photos of my recent trip to Kullu-Manali, in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The first photograpgh is a view of Rotang Pass, in the northern most part of the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is 14,000 ft. above sea level and an absolutely spectacular sight. The Manali...
