Storms, pots and plants

Over the last week there have been strong winds in Delhi, bringing dust, chaos and causing havoc. Three days ago, three large pots fell over, crashed and broke. They have been with us for over 10 years - housing ficus, frangipani and local trees. Yesterday, Mahesh and I bought pots to replace them... Sign in to see full entry.

In praise of handwork

The domestic crisis continues, with many turns and twists. This is the fourth week of no full time help but we have learned many lessons in the 21 days gone by. First and foremost we learned that we can manage without full time help. We have part time help. Chintin the perky 18 year old continues to... Sign in to see full entry.

The heat, creeps in

There is something about how the heat creeps in. It happens every summer, but I forget. And, when it comes, it comes with a bang. LIke now. Over the last few days, the days are so hot, you can't believe it. The sun is string and relentless. The mornings and evenings are cool and its hard to believe... Sign in to see full entry.

Back at Blogit

Its been 13 days since I posted last. That's a long time, even for me. I pride myself as a regular writer, part of my discipline, enjoyment and sharing. And, reading other people's blogs, chuckling, responding, feeling connected. So, what's been happening in the last 13 days? I have been a little... Sign in to see full entry.

Shopping in the Rain

Yesterday around 8 PM, as the non essential lights were to be turned off, I set out to INA market, on my way home. I had hoped to persuade my sister to join me, but it had got late. She was languishing in front of the TV, very relaxed with a stay at home expression. I was tempted to give it a miss.... Sign in to see full entry.

Going Raw

Yesterday I spent a good part of the day learning about the power and beauty of raw food. I have known something about this as I like to eat healthy. But, this is like eating only raw. Imagine that. The day was organised and created by Dr. Soorya Kaur, a raw diet specialist, among other things. Last... Sign in to see full entry.

Getting the Fit

I like things that fit well. Take foot wear. If it doesn't fit well, there is no point in buying it. And, good foot wear for women is hard to find. For years I have lusted after men's footwear - sturdy, comfortable and basic. Alas, they don't make them in my size. In recent times, many foot wear... Sign in to see full entry.

SICKO!

Last Sunday, as my husband and I finished our lunch and lounged on the couch, taking a break before we went back to work at our respective work spaces. As we switched n the TV, we found SICKO, a documentary by Michael Moore was just starting. Let's watch this, I said to Mahesh. Over the next 180... Sign in to see full entry.

Revolutionary Road

Last night I saw revolutionary Road. It was this year’s best actress Oscar nomination for Kate Winslet. Her co star was Leonardo di Caprio and the film was directed by Winslet’s husband Sam Mendes, a film maker of some repute. The two hour film – set in the 1950s in the US - was gripping and... A Rich Environment

This morning, I went for a walk in my neighbourhood. My new resolution is to go everyday, as soon as I wake up. I manage this, about 5 times a week. On other days, I succumb to sloth. This means, tea, almonds, biscuits, sitting on the terrace, reading the newspapers, with classical music in the... Sign in to see full entry.
