Our perception of miracles

Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead and makes a paralyzed man walk. God parted the Red Sea to facilitate the Isralites' crossing. He gives Moses the ten commandments carved on stone. The work of God is nothing short of miraculous. Many a time we encounter people who have had experiences with the Holy Spirit and we cannot ascertain if they are fact or a figment of someone's imagination. A sometimes hair-raising encounter happens at charismatic meetings when someone claims to have been slain by the... Sign in to see full entry.

Who is God

Our relationship with God is undoubtedly an individualistic affair, embracing the positive, negative and as most commonly, both. As with most things in life, it is a delicate, difficult balance which we try with varying degrees of success to negotiate. And of course, our ultimate, desired outcome is to have a relationship where the positive side of the balance carries the heavier weight, whether or not we choose to admit it. But then, who is God to us? For some, he is a Father whom we look to for... Sign in to see full entry.

My Prayer for us

My Prayer for us, the children of God My prayer for us would be To love ourselves A love we need Before we can love anyone else. My prayer for us is, so you know To love others As it purifies the soul. My prayer for us is To let go And not let hate In our hearts so My prayer for us forever more To love God The greatest love of all. Sign in to see full entry.

God's purpose for us

Obstacles in life never cease, and as we develop coping mechanisms to solve these perennial problems, we often forget that we have made choices without first looking to God for guidance. And of course, we end up feeing befuddled and wonder where He is in the first place. Things go wrong, of course, when our version of what life should be like is different from what God envisages it to be. What we want for ourselves is often vastly different from what He wants for us. Therein lies the difficulty:... Sign in to see full entry.

Why is life meaningless and unfair?

This is a rhethorical question that anyone (which encapsulates us all) goes through in facing the trials and tribulations of daily living. It is indeed a perennial mystery, and somehow one that may never be solved in our lifetimes, sad enough to say. Some negativity may be attributed to the folly of our sometimes silly and irrational decisions. We blindly charge into things without considering the consequences of our actions, thus resulting in a lot of negativity and hence, blame, which we often... Sign in to see full entry.

Forgiveness Forgiveness is an uphill task For which it sometimes seems Too much to ask Forgiveness makes you feel shortchanged You lose something, feel never the same Forgiveness makes you feel taken for granted Like a public bus There when wanted Forgiveness makes you seem weak A shadow Dull and imcomplete But forgiveness is letting go Not for others But for your soul. Why is God so mysterious and intangible?

We ask ourselves this perennial question for one reason - the many obstacles that we face in our lives. These can make us oblivious to his presence. Each time we face difficult, life-changing issues or tragedies, we cannot help but wonder at His existence. But after all, he is God, meant to be beyond our human comprehension. If He were that easy to understand, there would be no need to pursue studies of the Bible. Indeed, there would not be a need for faith. For after all, underlying the concept... The story of Alan

Alan was the best example of a boy whose effort seemed totally fruitless. He expended all his energy and effort trying to do his best in everything. He buried his nose in his books and his tuition sessions were countless. He was the epitome of failure: a farmer who could not reap a bountiful harvest no matter how he tried. He couldn't manage to improve his grades. He refused to go to church, believing that God had decided to abandon him to his own devices. His teacher, Mrs. Tang, realized how... Why didn't God make man good and perfect?

God the omnipotent. God the ultimate. God the all-powerful. These are all accolades we are ready to place on our maker. However, we constantly ask the question: if he is so powerful, why didn't he make men good and perfect? The controversy arising from this is eternal. The truth lies thus: we were all made that way. We were all born with nary a flaw. Our imperfections are often a result of our own choices. And the decisions we make tend to belittle the perfect being that he is. How did we come...
