Laid Off Workers Often Rehired by Company!
According to Right Management, a Philadelphia-based consulting firm that surveyed 14,000 displaced workers from nearly 5,000 companies, "13 percent of workers who lost their job as part of downsizings in 2005 were later rehired by the same employer." Rehiring employees who were victims of a numbers game, rather than being let go for performance reasons, enables companies to bring back people who have known qualities that fit the culture of their organizations, experts say.
