My Mom has been recovering from a fall which broke her arm a few months ago. The last few days she's had a return of vertigo which she suffered with a few years ago. I have a set of friends, two couples, that I've known for at least 15 years. We worked at the police department together and maintained a strong bond over the years. I just got back from a great evening. As anyone who reads my posts, the last few months have been pretty stressful for my family with my Dad's passing and my Mom's fall (and subsequent long recovery). My Dad was very clear that when he passed he did not want a traditional service. To respect his wishes, we held a wake yesterday in the town we lived for many years. My Dad passed today. My earlier posts had talked of some of his health struggles over the past few years. After developing pneumonia over the weekend, he declined rapidly, then died this morning with my Mom holding his hand and all of us around him. He is finally at peace and for that I am grateful. My Mom's condo has a lovely view of the major streets in the area. I was here helping her this morning when I heard the sound of bagpipes.
