Validate this!

Over the past week or so, the writing newsletters to which I subscribe have been full of articles about validation of your writing. The basic point of the articles is that the only validation a writer needs comes from within. For me though, the interesting point (and one which seems never to be... Sign in to see full entry.

Contests, Vampires, & Dead Things…

I entered another writing contest today. Yet again, winners won’t be posted until October which means tons of waiting. This contest was a fun one and, though the prizes aren’t extravagant, I enjoyed writing for it. The details follow below, but basically, your writing entry is based on the photo... I don’t know how you all do it!

I’ve not yet figured out how the writers among you manage to both write and blog with any regularity. As you can see, I have been neglecting my little blog in favor of my writing. Why? I suppose because my writing is where I hope my life path will be. Over the past few days, I’ve finished one... Sign in to see full entry.

Waiting, waiting, waiting…

I’ve determined that the life of a fledgling writer is made up primarily of waiting for rejection notices. LOL – I would love to have said waiting for acceptance letters, but the reality is that the majority of those letters will be rejections. Each morning, I check my e-mail looking for responses.... The Muse lives again…

This has been a great week, as writing goes. Two new stories in the works and a huge lot done on my book! I was reading about a writing technique that is unique and, for me, just a little scary. Effectively, you simply write non-stop without once stopping to edit. It’s a challenge for me because I... Sign in to see full entry.

Just to share...

I just wanted to share one of my favorite poems with you. I had this one published at www.song-of-the-siren.net in March of 2003. Sadly, the zine seems to be dying as no new issues have been posted in quite a while. As for the poem, reprint rights reverted to me long ago. I'm posting it here today... Sign in to see full entry.

What’s in a name?

I’ve been considering the question of using pen names for some of my work. I think I may have mentioned before that I write in three extremely varied genres…Speculative Fiction, Children’s Poetry & Literature, and Romantic Fiction. Up to this point, all of my published pieces have been under my own... Sign in to see full entry.

I hate spell check!!!

Truthfully, I would probably be lost without it, but I do detest the fact that if a word is spelled correctly, but an incorrect word in context, it doesn’t tell you. Yes…I expect my computer to do all my work for me. I was submitting a story and I thought that I had read through it very carefully.... Sign in to see full entry.

Ghost Story update...

820 words and going strong. Though I really should not have been writing this at work. However, lots of things to do tonight and writing won't be possible. I'll add to it tomorrow and (hopefully) have it finished this week. I like this one so much I already spent some time today scouting markets! Sign in to see full entry.

Ghostly Imaginings

I’ve decided to write a ghost story. It’s funny because, although I love to read them, I realize that I’ve never even attempted to write one. Many of my stories are horror, but they tend to deal with a more mundane almost urban horror with only a hint of the supernatural. However, those I’ve placed... Sign in to see full entry.
