As I eased into a parking space directly in front of the 7-11, I could see that Zudow was manning the registers alone. It didn’t matter where his partner was. We would have a “moment”. Hovering slightly outside and above myself, my body exited the car, calculating the probabilities. Someone was at the counter, leaving as I entered.
