ONE STEP CLOSER TO BECOMING A HILLBILLY

I’m sitting here with a mouth full of gauze. This 57-year-old man, who had a full set of teeth, just got home from the dentist. Today I am minus one molar. I’m reminded of Dudley Moore in the movie “10”. I remember his phone conversation with his girlfriend (Julie Andrews), and see the similarities... Sign in to see full entry.

ROUGH WEEK AT WORK

This holiday week was just not normal. Let’s say we went on an elevated basis for our residents at the retirement community. I carry a radio, and the people I work with are in constant touch with each other. We speck in codes to protect the privacy of the people we are talking about. It may have... MEAL COMPLETE WITH FLYING KNIFES AND FOOD

I have been working at the retirement community now for 41/2 months. I originally signed on for one day a week. They have me for two days now. Tonight sixteen of us had our Christmas dinner. To be politically correct maybe that should be holiday dinner. We met at a Japanese steak house and had a... Sign in to see full entry.

CYPRESS AND THE WORK GANG

The company I used to work for has about 250 employees. The IT department has 17 great people; several of them took me to lunch today. When I retired I did not want the normal open buffet. We have all been to them, and know what happens to the poor person leaving the company. Lord knows you shake... Sign in to see full entry.

Mr. Nice Guy Is Being Walked On

I believe we have all been there. My retirement was to give me more control of my life. This was wishful thinking on my part. I agreed to work one day a week for the retirement community. Today makes the ninth week in a row I have worked on Sunday. The problem is Sunday is not my assigned day to... Sign in to see full entry.

NEWS FROM MY WORLD

I have been working part time now for four months. I work primarily on weekends. I requested this shift and enjoy the benefits it gives me. I’m able to take better care of my mother and her errands during the week. This past week we drove to Whiteman Air Force Base and did some shopping. Trust me,... Sign in to see full entry.

Let's Party in our Jammies!

Tomorrow night the bar I hang out at is having a Pajama party. The waitresses are cute but I know what will really happen. All week I fantasized what a Sodom & Gomorrah event this could be. In reality it will be a bunch of drunks in flannel and sexy bathrobes. My friends want to go, but I have... Sign in to see full entry.

BLOGGER NOW JOINS WHITE TRASH AMERICA

I have lived in my townhouse since 1975. The first ten years were new and exciting. The neighborhood was almost 100% young new home purchasers. Thirty years later, I now calculate 35% of the neighborhood is a renter. The majority of my neighbors are great people. The exception is the woman who lives... Sign in to see full entry.

BLOGGER FACE TO FACE WITH A FIREMAN

I’ve written about my father, and what his life taught me. His work ethic contributed to my 35-and-a-half years of supporting America’s Gross National Product. I have been working two days a week for a retirement community. It has been five weeks now and I really enjoy it. I waited this long to... Sign in to see full entry.

BLOGGER GOES TO WORK AGAIN

All play and no work makes this retiree a happy man. It has been 5 months now, and except for the week that I trained as a court recorder, it is time I get back to making a buck. The good life ends Thursday. I searched for a job that would be part time, but more importantly let me use my people... Sign in to see full entry.
