Don't bail out the banks, bail out the people!

How about this $700 billion being distributed to folks with foreclosures looming, which can be paid by the people into the banks, rather than from the government to the banks. Sure enough, I don't know all the details, don't know how it all works... though obviously, not so much... But this seems... Sign in to see full entry.

What do you want me to read?

Here's an invitation for some blatant self-promotion! Things move along so fast here, each new post pushing back the previous-- so one that is overlooked, vanishes from the spot-light and fades into the wings. I've said before, it can be a most rewarding treasure hunt to choose a favorite blogger,... Sign in to see full entry.

Autumnal slump on Blogit?

After a busy blogiting August, September seems to have sent everyone off to check their larders for winter stores, or their doors and windows for proper weather-stripping... Or maybe a huge number of Blogiteers are coping with hurricane and flood... Some have gone back to school and have stuff like... Sign in to see full entry.

A few loose thoughts...

Seems to me that the spendspendspend economic system encouraged by the kind of capitalism practiced in the US, and perhaps other places, too, is a pyramid scheme doomed to eventual collapse as the top seems to rely on building materials removed from the bottom. Most pyramid schemes are illegal,... Sign in to see full entry.

Anyone who is afraid of a Black Man in the White House

is missing the most important factor about Obama and the racist divide: He has lived both black and white realities. If anyone can bring together the interests of both with true awareness and sympathy, he can! Sooner or later, color was coming to grace the White House, just as sooner or later, this... Do you really listen?

As I am writing, MEET THE PRESS is on in the other room, and I am hearing with a little more than half an ear what both Democrat and Republican supporters of their party's candidate, have to say about the campaign, the numbers, the candidates. Whichever one is your favored candidate, it is so easy,... Sign in to see full entry.

Maybe some people shine more brightly under stress

But I don't. That's when my anxieties glow like they are radioactive, and my panic buttons start pushing themselves automatically, and my defenses come up and start looking around for what needs shooting or shouting down... Under stress I get stupid and reactive. How do you react to stress? How do... Sign in to see full entry.

What makes me especially sad about this election

is that it is so intensely polarized, that no matter who wins, the other side will find it a very, very bitter pill. Which of these candidates will, winning, actually be able to bring Americans together? I have spent 8 years loathing GWBush. Until Palin, I could have accepted McCain as a man I could... In this election season, I am trying to keep a sense of humor.

Sometimes they make it too easy. Is anyone else amused that when Obama refers to "...lipstick on a pig..." the Republicans immediately think of their v-p candidate? Sign in to see full entry.

Offensive Bloggery

I just read comments on one of the blogs I have been frequenting, and have to wonder what moves some people to be deliberately, gratuitously offensive to another writer. It isn't as if the commenter knows the person he/she is assaulting with such mean-spiritedness. Is the commenter just that... Sign in to see full entry.
