labels and choices

We run into problems when our prrsonal labels become more important than who and what we are ourselves. Pacifist, just like Democrat or Republican or any other such label should not define an actual person. When doctrine becomes dogma, we surrender our abitlity to make our own choices. When such identifiers are held as absolute regardless of context, it is just another form of mania in which all things are forced through a particular set of perceptual filters: what simply doesn't fit through...
