They kept calling and calling...

while I waited for Charlie to figure out his holidays and school schedules... But this morning, I finally committed to a season of Seattle Symphony--Starting with Carmina Burana in November, then Beethoven's 9th on New Years, and some more Beethoven--the 6th, in the springtime... Some Mozart, and then--a performance by Bill Cosby for Father's Day. Now I need to sort out the Olympia season, around the end of April when the touring company of CATS! will be here. Buying season tickets, and picking... Sign in to see full entry.

Tickets are bought, the schedule is set

My daughter in Maryland has set her wedding date for October 4, the day after my birthday. Nice gift, eh? a son and two grandsons--and all their stuff, of which there is an interesting variety, as I've mentioned here before from time to time. So I wanted to make the cross-country drive, delivering some household furnishings to my son who has transcended dorm life and is now sharing in a house, meeting a few folks along the way, and having Davy Dog along for the ride and company. But that meant... Sign in to see full entry.

looking for a certain song---"Wooo-eee, ridin' me high...

Tomorrow is the day my love's gonna come..." something in it about "...down in my easy chair" --I think. Happy, upbeat melody, very folksy... Trying to find this song... lyric searches aren't helping. But you guys--You know everything! Sign in to see full entry.

Making Book:First edition!

My book of the Cape Palliser, NZ fur seals arrived from MyPublisher today--I am very pleased with it! It looks very nice, a dark blue linen cover with a cut-out window over the first picture, and 33 pages of the winsome creatures and their shoreside habitat. Now working with both Kodakgallery and MyPublisher to produce these, and right now, I am liking the MP one a little better. Has anyone else used these sites to create photobooks? They both offer very similar options for small, medium, large... Sign in to see full entry.

Video: "I Still Miss Someone"

my friend, Joel's version of Johnny and Roseanne Cash's song Ha! Thank you, TAPS! Sign in to see full entry.

I've just made a link...

to my videos album on photobucket, in my Adventuring travelblogue. I hope you will go and click on it, and besides the buffalo, which was the original point of posting, please check out my friend on the guitar. This is my alcoholic friend showing why, in spite of heartache and hassle, I love him. It was filmed in a rather spontaneous moment, when he had been months away from playing anything. It has taken me years to get him recorded at all, even in this very down-home manner, with my digital... Sign in to see full entry.

Trader Joe's opens today!

For years I have wondered why there was not a Trader Joe's closer than 40 miles... Now there is, and its a big one, about 5 miles from here. I am more than a little pleased! If you have never been to a Trader Joe's, you might think it is one of those trendy, pricey imported food stores. But in fact, it is a whole-foods and imported food store, and has some of the best prices on ineresting cheeses outside a warehouse--about half what supermarkets usually charge for the same ones. And they have... Sign in to see full entry.

I colored my hair a little...

it's one of those rinse-away-after-several-shampoo things. (Non-commital, that's me...) So there is a touch of blondishness to the grey parts. So far, no one here has noticed. At least not in any noticeable way. I mean, no slack-jawed OMG looks, no fumbling for something normal to say. That's good, means it probably hasn't gone grass green. Yet. Oh, about the books mentioned in the previous post... I spent 4-5 hours on that project this morning, saved, and went away and came back... and the new... Sign in to see full entry.

Making books

Now and then the online book-maker sites offer a sale, and I take them up on the opportunity. I am putting together one, a big one, that focuses on the geologic sights of the American West, from visits to the much-known parks, and some of the less-known ones, and the scenery along the roads. Trouble is, it keeps growing... I guess there will be a second volume one day. Meanwhile, I am busy researching some of the specific information about the layers and the geologic record. Hmm... Maybe I... Sign in to see full entry.

The dishes...

These are the two satellite dishes on the house, referring back to the next previous post about the problem of rural internet access. It seems that access to the internet generally is not out of the question, but I would have to give up my online game.:( Maybe, though, that is not actually a bad thing. Sign in to see full entry.
