My first romantic moment

As I walked today in the mild sunshine, suddenly I remembered a poem-- Sitting on the hillside Among the grass and vetch Holding hands and sharing hums Nothing goes and nothing comes Careless carefree nothing-head Nothing thought of, nothing said Status quo Tra-la! a sweet May afternoon spent on the hillside behind the school, cutting class for the first time in my life, but it was the last week of senior year so no one minded. I wonder what life has brought to Albert in these past 40 years. Sign in to see full entry.

Lazy Land and beyond...

Palmer Park is a small mountain in the midst of north Colorado Springs, piney forest climbing among some photogenic geology--Fountain Formation, I am informed by my son who took classes on this--a much-eroded conglomerate that takes some lovely red and orange tones from the iron content within it, maybe some other stuff too. Entering from the north side, the first open ground is a recreational area that can be rented by groups for picnicking and play, and it is called Lazy Land. Charlie mentions... My mother is 89 today.

She was born Sept 24, 1922, in Salt Lake City and grew up there and in Washington, DC in a large apartment across the street from the National Zoo. She was the second of four children, and the only girl. It wasn't easy. Her parents were not the loving kind. From all I have heard, they lacked basic understanding and insight, and lived rather selfish lives. When she had appendicitis, she survived without surgery. Why she was not permitted the surgery, I have never heard. Had her father not died,... Sign in to see full entry.

having lots of fun here--

The editing gig goes on, as the publishing house--The Zharmae Publishing Press--is being built from the ground up: New voices join the weekly conference call staff meeting and new ideas are expressed and some manifest. Investors are sought with increasing confidence as the company looks better and stronger and more vital than ever. http://www.zharmae.com/ We want readers, both the kind who judge the worthiness of submissions, and those who are the demographic samplers for the marketing... Charlie Meets a Mugger

He was walking home after a late rehearsal, near 11pm, in this quiet neighborhood just west of the college. He had music in his ears, and was probably thinking of lines or games or just enjoying his music and the quiet walk. His computer bag was slung over his shoulder. About a block from home, a red sedan pulled up, a guy in a black hoody jumped out and muttered. Charlie thought maybe he wanted directions... then caught on that the guy was muttering, " gimme your bag..." and reaching for it.... Sign in to see full entry.

With all the folks digging out...

getting their stuff dried out, adding up the losses, waiting for power and in some cases, supplies of fresh water and food... homes destroyed, savings wiped out, comfort and security and loved ones lost... Earthquake, fire, hurricane, tornado, flood, brain-cooking heat... What am I whinging on about? My troubles are real enough, but they are so small... Sign in to see full entry.

"Love ends only in indifference."

Every creature, when it wakes each day, has something it wants to go find: Breakfast. An editor looks for a new best seller. A photographer, a marvelous shot. Me... all those things. But something on my list has come up missing. It used to be that every day held the cheery potential that someone might enter the scene, someone to excite enthusiasm, to inspire personal connection, maybe even love. It was never expectation, but just that readiness, should it happen. This morning I woke up and... Sign in to see full entry.

aaarrrgghhhh...!

Backing into some army guy's Dodge Charger with an RV is not the best way to start the day. But at least now I know what happens when you do that in Colorado Springs... Required police report, and citation for backing into a car, $85 which i won't complain about. I could go to court and probably get that commuted to community service hours, plus $20 court costs. But on this, i will probably just pay it, and the $500 deductible on the insurance. Everyone was polite and civil, and no hard... Sign in to see full entry.
