Thrifting

For once, we--Charlie and I--have good excuses for spending hours in thrift stores, and a certain antique/collectibles gallery that is immense and maze-like. My son is hunting props for a play, and I am hunting furniture bargains for the new place. (Two weeks, the landlady said the other day, and walking around inside, I see her point. TAPS reminds me...

My first post ever on Blogit was on December 31, 2004, in my Universe blog. I remember thinking a long time, deciding what I had to say that I considered worth saying... and things have been occuring to me ever since. The worth of it varies, of course, with every reader's perspective, and even my own. I think I've said some things worth thinking about, other times, it has just been a way to say hello. Hello! It snew...

Weather forecast said tomorrow expect snow. I didn't expect it overnight last night. Today I needed for sorting hats and stuff... making some content tags, deciding pricing for selling wholesale to a shop downtown, writing up the inventory... Tomorrow I figured on heading downtown, on a nice chilly, snowy day with the theory that that is advantageous for the selling of warm hats. Well, maybe it will snow again tonight. Cats

Specifically, my cats... the ones still living in Washington State... at least two of which will come join me when my place is ready for them. Maybe three. Violetta, the golden tabby, and Magick, the grey tabby, are the elders, both coming to us in advanced kittenhood in 2000. Ninja, the sleek black cat, arrived a year or two later, and for various reasons we suspect that he is, in fact, a descendant of the first black tom we had, who decided to live the wild life. Sunny Sunday

Woke at dawn, went back to bed at 9, woke again at noon... which is normal get-up time for my son. Like many college kids, his day lasts late into the night, and starts well past morning. The day was warm and sunny, to my delight. Anyway, we agreed that it was a day for a lunch out, to celebrate my return, and we headed for a good sushi place. Come Saturday Morning...

...and by Saturday afternoon, I was in the air... and back in Colorado by 5:30, back in the Springs by 8PM--Yay! On the way to the airport, I stopped to pick up some huge apples that Charlie asked for, and some smoked salmon as a surprise. He is pleased. The flight was not bad, only 3 hours, and seatmates were not taking up more than their space alotment, were sober, and pleasant generally. Friday (was) Forever

...mostly because most of it I spent with my eyes dilated. Good news, no damage from diabetes; less good, cataracts are what makes it hard to drive at night and some other times, too. Being on the computer, not so great with big wide pupils... so, no writing yesterday, but a couple of naps. I really wanted it to be Saturday, and me on the way...home. Thursday's Child

Early morning today, going out to the doc office to get lab work done... also, acquired some capsaicin ointment for the shoulder. Most of the rest of the day was about further boxing up and laundry and packing... made a couple more baby hats, and got in a nap in the afternoon. Yesterday, same thing being sleepy all day, until I gave in and had a cup of coffee in the later afternoon... and didn't sleep until after 2AM. Today I chose nap over caffeine. a little more Wednesday...

Packing continues... I can't believe how much yarn and how many hats and things have been stashed in the house here and there... It fills the whole dufflebag that will be flying back with me on Saturday. And all kinds of other things have been turning up, too: a photo of my mother, aged 3 and hand-tinted... and another, of my dad in his Jr ROTC uniform, maybe 14 or 15 yrs old... my college and high school diplomas in cheap frames...
