Stairing... Annacita, this one's for you!

I've fired up a contest over on Fine Art America this morning, called STAIRWAYS. It will run for 3 days of entries, then 3 days for voting. If you are fascinated and delighted by stairs, take a look--So far, the entries are a visual treat! http://fineartamerica.com/contests/stairs-and-stairways--photos-only.html?tab=overview In other news... It is a misty morning in the Ribble Valley, but the light is growing as the mist burns off from above. Today we will drive up to Giggleswick, which... Sign in to see full entry.

Sunny days and hedgehogs

The weather is at least consistantly inconsistant: sun and clouds and sometimes rain, once or twice, hail... pretty cool, most days. Today we drove out to the animal sanctuary and picked up the sturdy little hedgehog that will stay in the hutch my daughter acquired a week or so ago, and set in a corner of the field. The little guy, or maybe gal, will stay until it decides to go. This is a sort of fostering project, re-introducing hedgehogs to the wilds, that were injured or too young, and are... To all the mothers...

Mothers that are, were, and will be... Ideal mothers, and the real ones... Mothers that did a wonderful job, and those that fumbled it, but did the best they could... Clouds over England

It's a grey day, not raining at the moment, and the sky is filled with dramatic clouds sailing by. The elections are over, and people seem to be either happy or stoic with the outcome, some seeing darker clouds on the horizon as the Conservatives find it easier to have their way with anti-progressive agendas. http://i100.independent.co.uk/article/7-laws-the-lib-dems-stopped-the-tories-from-passing--gkKwqOshgb Today is VE Day: Victory in Europe, for those who don't remember the German surrender... After the road trip

Two days with a lot of walking, many steps and stairs... churches, shops, ruins, winds, chill and rains... Amazing how much one can fit into two days! Back at Hollin Hall Farm, next morning: a hot bath helped with some of the aches before bed, and I am taking it easy this morning while uploading the many photos I had polished up by last night. It will take more than two days to share the evidences and experiences of the two-day road trip! Catching up on reading here, too--making a few comments... Sign in to see full entry.

Account updates...?

Has anyone else noticed a lag in account earnings updates? My page is the same since May 1st. After being on Blogit for some years now, I don't watch the pennies stack up every day or worry over them, but it's nice to know now and then. Sometimes they come quite slowly, other times they make a sudden pleasing leap, and every few months, I request a check from Blogit Central that comes in handy. I have discovered, by the way, that if you wish to request such a check of your earnings, it's... Sign in to see full entry.

Ribble Report: Quiet Wednesday Morning

I'm sitting by another window that looks out onto the front yard of Hollin Hall Farm, taking it easy with a scratchy throat, wary of letting it become a full-fledged illness. The combo-stresses of exhausting travel, disarranged sleep patterns, getting too chilled, on top of the unavoidable exposure of new germs in new and populous places, could add up to a great loss of time exploring and experiencing. Don't want! Yesterday we drove to Preston where we saw my son-in-law off to a couple of days... Sign in to see full entry.

Last day

This is the last day to get things done, to do laundry, clean out the fridge, go shopping for Tylenol and Pepsid--the only pain killer I can use, and a bottle for the grandoggy who has gastric issues--and all the snacks for a 20-hour trip; to write out rent and utility checks to be delivered at a Later Date, to make sure everything I need for the next 6 weeks and might not be able to find Over There, is remembered and packed... Early delivery today: the camera I lost was found under the... Sign in to see full entry.

No one knocking...

Not yet, anyway. I made a special point of waking at 6, because I simply hate being dragged from sleep, as happened yesterday at 6:30 when that dratted flicker started on the outside wall of my room. He wants to make a nest in there, and I want him not to. So when I hear him knock-knock-knocking, I go out on the deck, lean over the side rail and holler at him, "Go away!!" And he goes away... to come back a while later. He will win, in the end, probably, because I am about to be gone for 6 weeks,... Sign in to see full entry.

Surprise!

Last night, after Charlie got back from Starfest which he just barely scraped together the funds to get into, and put his books in the art show/auction, we had a chat about maybe having an open house for the costuming here, today. Nothing was decided firmly. Well, when I got up this morning and fired up this thing, and opened Facebook, I found this: AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT! OPEN HOUSE COSTUME/PROPS SALE ANNOUNCEMENT! Saturday, April 18th It is time to make a radio play! Anyone interested in... Sign in to see full entry.
