After several days of smoke-haze obscuring the mountains and filtering the sunlight, thunderstorms and quiet rains cleaned the air overnight, and today the mountains are visible through considerably less haze. The rain we had here was not of the rumble-bangers we saw in the distance, though the lightning visible from the back porch was phenomenal!
