Sometimes English is confusing.

Saturday again, already? This brings up an editorial question that always hits me like bottoming out on a smooth road that has a sudden rough spot. It is mostly about reading, but can also come up in speech, through tonality/emphasis shifts. Already, always, alright... 'Already' has not quite the same meaning or usage as 'all ready.' Both work in their proper places. Likewise, 'always' and 'all ways.' I have trouble with 'alright' which is used as 'ok' but never looks right to me, though the... Sign in to see full entry.
