Living in Colorado, it's about the geology: the mountains, the red rocks, the canyons... The Pacific Northwest is about the forests. Of course there is plenty of geology in Washington State, what with volcanoes and all, but what I really miss are the rain forests, the tall firs and cedars... Today, we walked a while in a park like that, revelling in the lush green and deep shadows. I feel some part of me soaking up the green, absorbing it like a dry, dry sponge.
