Cable vs Dish: a technical question

So--this house I am looking at has two satellite dishes--the small ones, not the huge papa-san, SETI type dish antennas--and no cable. How does that work with internet? Would we be able to get high-speed connectivity? I would ask the dish companies, but then--they know what I want to hear, and how to make what they have to say sound like what I want to hear, whether it is exactly true or not.
