We went to see MONGOL last night. It's a foreign film made on location in Mongolia and Khazakstan, with Mongolian, Chinese, Japanese and other Asian film-makers. To begin with, the cinemetography is spectacular, and does justice to the vast landscapes and skies. The battle scenes are grimly artistic, and the entire production is so visually and culturally authentic, it is a pure pleasure. The actors are real, too.
