We said goodbye to Embers today. I knew when I adopted her 6 years ago, aged 15, that this time would come. When she developed kidney disease, aged 21, I know it was only a matter of months, maybe a year. But she went downhill pretty quickly, six months from the first diagnosis. Her kidney function numbers were so bad, she was not eating, and she was down another pound and a half from her last vet weigh-in, just barely 6 lbs.
