I'm currently watching a lot of old episodes of the British Poirot mysteries. Written by Agatha Christie, they are set in the 1930s mostly, against the backdrop of looming war which Christie was yet to live through. The productions are rich with art deco and 30s fashions. Also, with the un- and semi-conscious racisms and classisms of those times. Some, perhaps, reflect Christie's view of the world.
