Feeding time... the chicks are quiet, not like jays for instance who squawk and holler for parents to drop tasty morsels into their gaping maws! Dove chicks are fed 'crop milk' which the parent produces, a blend of seeds, water, and whatever else doves eat. The chicks may not make a lot of noise, but they do get pushy and frantic, so getting focused shots of the feeding is not easy! I took over 80 shots, saved fewer than 20. Sunday Sunshine

By the time predicted thunderstorms roll in, we'll be ready for the heat relief they bring, but right now it's pleasantly warm. Dove parent was off the nest, out and about, so I took some time to make better watering arrangements for the plants on the table below the nest. Hostas like the shade, but this hot dry weather dries out their feet pretty quickly, so I've put their pots in dishes.
