JUNK MAN - Chapter 12

JUNK MAN Chapter 12 “We need to split up,” said Sister Mary. I didn’t like the sound of that. “If we split up we lose our protection,” I said. “I’ve got to bless the graves,” said Sister Mary, “and make sure there aren’t any more struggling to get out. “You three need to find weapons, anything that will slow these creatures down long enough to get at them and keep them from getting you. I would tell you to warn the town but no one will believe you until the screaming starts.” “You can’t go into... Sign in to see full entry.

JUNK MAN Chapter 11

JUNK MAN Chapter 11 As the four of us hurried toward the road leading to the cemetery Mary began to quiz Willy about everything that had led up to the release of the demon and the zombies. “You say you used a crystal, blood and a pentagram in the cemetery, and it was a pentagram that was holding the demon in check?” she asked. “Uh, huh,” said Willy. “And it was because you failed to close the pentagram in the cemetery that caused the bodies to rise and the demon to escape.” “Yes…but those aren’t... JUNK MAN- Chapter 10

JUNK MAN Chapter 10 Waiting for Prissy and Junk Man at the river bridge wasn’t a pleasant experience. It wasn’t like I had anything to hide behind and I had plenty of things to hide from. The cemetery road converged on Main Street a tenth of a mile east of the bridge. River Road was just a hop-skip-and a jump behind me running north, Willy’s place was a quarter-mile from the bridge. The moon bathed everything it touched in an eerie silver glow. There was no breeze, no sound. It was as if nature... Sign in to see full entry.

JUNK MAN - CHAPTER 9

JUNK MAN CHAPTER 9 The pounding coming from the coffins was becoming more insistent but it wasn’t until we heard the sound of wood splintering that we high-tailed it out of the cemetery and started running back to Willy’s place. Willy was afraid enough of what he was running away from to forget what he was running towards—for a little while anyway. It wasn’t until he reached River Road that he stopped running. “Wait. Wait,” gasped Willy. He placed his hand on his chest and leaned over as he... Sign in to see full entry.

JUNK MAN - Chapter 8

JUNK MAN Chapter 8 It didn’t take us long to walk to Outlast Cemetery. Priscilla and I were probably as familiar with it as Junk Man because we played in it pretty often; you see, Outlast didn’t have any playgrounds. In the daylight the cemetery was what Prissy calls “park pretty”, which means the cemetery lawn was manicured, the trees were old and there were lots of flowers and neat things to look at. Unfortunately, at night, the place had an entirely different atmosphere about it. Those neat... Sign in to see full entry.

JUNK MAN - Chapter 7

JUNK MAN Chapter 7 Willy was right, the building was a shop-lab and from the sounds coming from my left, it was also a zoo, but from what planet I wasn’t too sure. Half of the building was lit with large round overhead lights. However, the other half, where the animal sounds were coming from, was lit with dark-red light bulbs. Surprisingly, workspace, storage cabinets and cages were located along the outer walls leaving the center of the room open. Completely out of place in this shop of horrors... JUNK MAN - Chapter 6

JUNK MAN Chapter 6 It never occurred to me that Junk Man might not be too happy to have another person in on his secret until I got ready to knock on his door. I looked up at Prissy and opened my mouth to start to suggest she go back home. She gave me a look that changed my mind. I closed my mouth and tapped on the door. Willy answered the door with a smile which quickly turned to a frown when he saw Priscilla with me. “Is this your sister?” he asked. I couldn’t seem to get the words out so I... JUNK MAN - Chapter 5

JUNK MAN Chapter 5 That night I managed to sleep but must have awakened ten times from nightmares; unfortunately, when morning came I still remembered most of them. The dream that bothered me the most was the one where Dad was tapping on my window begging me to let him in the back door. “Michael, I’m cold; unlock the door, Son,” just thinking about that one gave me the shivers. Even though I didn’t feel like eating breakfast, I knew my absence would only raise questions. I sat down in my usual... Sign in to see full entry.

JUNK MAN - Chapter 4

JUNK MAN Chapter 4 I couldn’t believe my luck; Mom had left a note on the kitchen table saying that she and Prissy were at Aunt Bessie’s and what time they’d be home. I had twenty-minutes to get cleaned up and rehearse my story about my missing cane pole and shirt, just in case Mom noticed their absence. I could explain the mud; no problem there. I had already made up my mind about Junk Man; no way was I going to tell her about him and his zombie-machine. Mom started dinner as soon as she and... Sign in to see full entry.

JUNK MAN - Chapter 3

JUNK MAN Chapter 3 I looked at the box Junk Man held in his hands willing it to open by itself so I wouldn’t have to answer the question Willy just asked me, ‘Do you want to see it, or do I put it back?’ I thought it best to skirt the issue. “I don’t know. What does it do?” “That depends,” said Willy, “what do you want it to do?” Frustrated nearly beyond words, I asked, “What kind of a question is that? How am I supposed to know what I want it to do, if I don’t know what it can do?” “I see your... Sign in to see full entry.
