Chicken Stirfry

Tonight I think I will make chicken stirfry with steamed jasmine rice. I have some celery, capsicum, mushrooms and beans I can add to the chicken together with a dollop of oyster sauce. Yum! I will have to add chilli to mine separately as my son doesn't like it. I do like Asian cuisine. Especially... Sign in to see full entry.

Jack Spratt and his wife...

Do you remember the nursery rhyme about Jack Spratt who could eat no fat and his wife who could eat no lean? Well things are pretty much like that in my house. I should not eat anything fatty if I want to keep losing weight and my son really needs to put some weight on. It means I have to take into... Sign in to see full entry.

I’m eating too much!

Since my son moved in I have been eating far too much. I was in the habit of taking my main meal of the day to work and heating it up for lunch. Then I would come home and have something simple and light for dinner. Now, I still take a main meal for lunch, but I also come home and cook another meal... Sign in to see full entry.

No loss, no gain

Well even after the pizza on Friday, chips yesterday and bacon and eggs this morning I haven’t lost any weight but I haven’t gained any either. I tried on my swimsuit that I bought a couple of years ago and it still fits – whew! But now I need to tone up a bit. So its back to weights and fitball... Sign in to see full entry.

Searching for fitness

I have been starting to do some research into fitness for stamina and diet, specifically for basketball. Since my son moved in with me I’m beginning to focus more on taking the right steps to helping him with his career. Will keep you posted if I find anything interesting. Sign in to see full entry.

Junk Food

Tonight I am in the mood for junk food. The options are fish and chips or pizza. I will leave it to my son to decide. I rarely eat takeaway food, but now and again I get cravings for pure junk, washed down with a glass of wine of course. I wonder which one he will choose? Sign in to see full entry.

Cooking for two

I’m not sure which I prefer, cooking for one or cooking for two. Cooking for one can sometimes be boring and I often used to settle for the easy option, like grilled cheese on toast. But cooking for two has its downside as well, especially when the number two doesn’t like the foods that I do. He... Sign in to see full entry.

The cost of health

During the last week or so I have met a few people who either have allergies to wheat or have heard that their health would improve if they did not eat wheat. All of them have two reasons why they do not look for alternative products. The first is convenience, they are often too lazy to source... Sign in to see full entry.

Work Christmas lunch

We had our work Christmas lunch today at one of the on campus restaurants. We pre-ordered our meals. I had a vegetable stack for entrée. It comprised of eggplant, capsicum and artichokes, compressed into a circular shape the same size as a slice of eggplant and about 1” thick. For main course I had... Sign in to see full entry.

Back to healthy living

After a weekend of over indulging myself, I woke today with the realisation that I have to get back to my healthy lifestyle. For no other reason except that I do feel better when I eat healthy food and exercise regularly. Luckily my eldest is also determined to look after himself, after all being a...
