There's a fine line between pleasure and pain

On Monday after work I completed the paperwork to join the gym and on Tuesday I attended for the first time. How unfit am I! It's been three years since I regularly attended a gym and boy can I feel it! I've had to reprogram myself to accept that I can no longer use the weights I used to use. I'm... Wake me up when September ends…

The song by Good Charlotte has been repeating itself in my head. It’s fairly unusual that a song like that one makes an impact on me, I’m much more of a Rap, Hip Hop or RNB person, but September, the word and the month, mean a lot to me. At 17, when I first started out as a DJ, my stage name was... Sign in to see full entry.

Registering for SAT

Tonight we registered my son to take the SAT test. What a process that was! We spent a good half an hour ticking and unticking the boxes. Some of the questions we couldn’t answer at all. The process has cost me US$62, which will probably equate to around AUD $80. But it will be money well spent if... Sign in to see full entry.

Waiting, not so patiently…

Well, it’s been nearly two weeks since I decided to join the gym. I put the forms into our HR Department, they have begun to take the money out of my wage, but so far I haven’t received the necessary letter to take to the gym. I have called our HR Department and presumably they have moved my letter... Sign in to see full entry.

Football finals fever in Melbourne

By default I ended up at the football today. My son’s friend pulled out at the last moment and my son didn’t want to go on his own, so I reluctantly agreed to accompany him. I suppose I could have stayed home and done the housework instead. Our team wasn’t playing; it didn’t make the finals this... Sign in to see full entry.

Ka Mate Ka Mate, Ka Ora Ka Ora!

Tis Death Tis Death, Tis Life Tis Life! So go the words of the traditional Maori war dance, the Haka. “Haka” is actually made up of two words: Ha, which means breath and Ka, which means to ignite, or to energise. The Haka was used to condition the Maori warrior for war and battle. It is considered... Sign in to see full entry.

Rejected by a dating site!

Well, you know you have reached rock bottom when an Internet dating site won’t have you! I’m in one of those moods tonight. I don’t want to do any work. I don’t really feel like writing. I’m not even sure why I’m on the computer at all. So I thought I would have a look around at the different dating... Sign in to see full entry.

Like Alice chasing the white rabbit…

That was me today. Alice chasing the white rabbit and I nearly fell down a few rabbit holes in the attempt! With one lady away from work because of her fight with cancer, I’ve had to take on an extra workload. I don’t really mind, because most of the files are fairly easy to deal with, but today was... Sometimes you just have to ask “why”?

Watching the news tonight I got my first look at the destruction left by Hurricane Katrina. The devastation was incredible. The camera lens probably didn’t do it enough justice. Cement slabs left as the only evidence that houses and blocks of units once existed. Strands of wood and housing material... Sign in to see full entry.

Happy Birthday to Melbourne!

So Melbourne, the capital of Victoria in Australia, turns 170 years old today. I just learnt that by watching the news. Strange that I haven’t heard much else about it, there could be celebrations out there somewhere, but I don’t know about them. However I’m more than happy to raise my glass and...
