Home Sweet Home

My journey ended last night when we drove into our driveway and unpacked the car. It was 9.30pm when we drove in and by the time we unpacked the car and put things away it was nearly 11pm so I was more than ready to flop into bed, although sleep was a long time coming. In the last few days of our... Sign in to see full entry.

To London and its people – I salute you

I arrived in Adelaide late last night to the horrific news of the London transport system bombing. It had all unfolded while I was in the air from Perth to Adelaide. We got home to my friend’s place and watched the news. I felt shocked and saddened by the stories told. Through it all the London... Sign in to see full entry.

My mother’s smile… (written yesterday)

Yesterday afternoon we visited my mother in the nursing home where she now resides. It is only a short distance from where my father lives. We walked inside and up the two ramps to her floor. The nursing home used to be two older houses that have now been renovated and joined together. It is well... Sign in to see full entry.

The journey continues…

I left Adelaide on Sunday evening. The flight was supposedly taking off early, but we were delayed before takeoff, so the few minutes we saved were neither here nor there. I tried to see if there was anyone interesting on my flight, but no-one took my fancy. Then one of the West Australian football... Sign in to see full entry.

To good friends!

Everyone should have at least one good friend. It should be a prerequisite to life itself. Thou must have a good friend. Someone who can share your life or, if needs be, stand back while you make a fool of yourself, not interfering but ready to collect the broken pieces and help put yourself back... Now what can we do? (written June 28)

Being a long distance mother is not always easy and this has been brought home to me over the last couple of days. When you are with your children at all times, your days and nights take on an easy sort of rhythm. There are normal housekeeping tasks, school, work and sports. At home there is the TV,... What was once home… (written June 26)

Returning to a once known place can be a strange and often unnerving experience. Familiar faces are few and far between; familiar places have altered until they are no longer recognisable. I felt just this way today, as I returned to the place I had lived for 10 years, probably the longest time I... Sign in to see full entry.

Coming up – two weeks without work!

Yes, I am having two weeks leave from work. Bliss. I will be able to sleep in instead of dragging myself out of bed at 6am, or maybe 6.30am. I know I will wake up early, but it will be wonderful to simply turn over, snuggle down and go back to sleep. My son has a basketball game tonight and another... Sign in to see full entry.

Update on windscreen note

What an exciting week this is turning out to be. Or should I say challenging? After throwing the note in the rubbish bin last night (see my last post if you don’t know what I’m talking about), I thought no more about it. Late in the afternoon I had a phone call from one of our clients. A group of... Sign in to see full entry.
