Ego is not the enemy
I saw a bunch of bumper-stickers and window decals today on the theme of destroying your ego. Several referenced men particularly (Two 1950s looking, smirking women: "Did you see the size of his EGO?") and one of the bunch referenced Zen on the theme of ego destruction. People don't get what 'ego' means, what it is. Ego is your self-image. From a Zen perspective, or the generally Buddhist or Hindu narrative, a self-image is undesireable.
