Perhaps the delirious joy with which some of us welcome Obama's election
may in fact be the immense relief we feel that a degree of what we recognize as reason and sanity has been offered us, in place of years of insanity and the ongoing destruction of many things we value. You who are assuming that the response to Obama is pathological, insult many of us who are intelligent, cautious in our trust, and feeling deeply wounded by the long, long betrayal of our dreams of America, of what it could be, of what it should be.
