Sad...
I heard last night that someone died. She was an acquaintance of mine, if not a friend, and though she probably didn't miss my absence in her life, I will miss hers in the world. Washoe was the first chimpanzee to be taught American Sign Language. Through her ability to communicate in this gestural language, to interact intellectually and intelligently with the humans around her, she revealed her personal thoughts and feelings, and also revealed to us profound understandings of where we come...
