Explaining My Absence

Well, I actually thought I could keep up this blog and work on my podcast at the same time... at least that's the way I planned it. Unfortunately my plans have all been skittled. The plan now is to use this blog (temporarily, I hope) as a means of updating how I'm going on the podcast until I have... Sign in to see full entry.

MP Perks

I think John Armstrong. political correspondent for the NZ Herald, has lost the plot when he writes:- "The hefty expences allowance is paid as a component of MP's salaries to ensure they are not out of pocket from carrying out official or parliamentary duties... MP's are constantly hit up for... Sign in to see full entry.

A Flush Of News

New Zealand has been invited to the Nuclear Summit in Washington. This is like a teetotaller being invited to an AA meeting. Tiger Woods ignored the excellent advice of Oscar Wilde - "Self love is the beginning of a lifelong relationship". And what's this about "entitlement"? Slavery ended last... "Avatar" & The Kiwis

The Green Party once again display their complete ignorance of financial matters. They are annoyed that the makers of the film "Avatar" were given $45 million of taxpayers money. Actually the NZ taxpayer gave not a cent. The sum represents the 15% rebate used to attract film production to this... Sign in to see full entry.

Wellywood

Wellington Airport Authority has decided against a "Wellywood" sign in the Wellington hills but they are looking for alternatives. May I sugest, "Thank God". It's what I say every time I land in Wellington. There's very little difference between a landing in Wellington and a crash you walk away... Sign in to see full entry.

Money Talks

Bishop Tamaki and the Destiny Church are in the news again with their titheings, "voluntary" donations and merchandising. And I'll say nothing about the concept they sell that the more money you give to Detiny Church the more God will love you so the more money he'll send to you (at a later date, of... The Pope

Some free P.R. mate. Suggesting a scandal is a media beat up only works if you can prove the media claim is false. As you've already admitted the truth of the allegations this tactic is not only a hiding to nowhere but an insult to the people you've just apologised to. After all, if there had been... Stephen Versalko

Stephen Versalko is a name to remember. He has been convicted on a $17.8 million fraud. He was brought down when one of his victims saw a documntary on Bernie Madoff and realised Versalko was using the same excuses. Versalko, despite being married, spent $3.4 million over 9 years on two prostitutes.... Sign in to see full entry.

Ab-Zorbed

The Zorb, a large plastic sphere featured in commercials from Coke, Toyota and Disney, has been chosen as the official symbol of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Soichi, Russia. According to the New York Times the Zorb represents the "new" Russia. Dmitry Chernyshenko, games organiser, is quoted as... Sign in to see full entry.
