Horses

The Kaimanawa horse cull has begun (long story made short - these are wild horses now recognized as a distinct breed but they live in a heritage area and are culled regularly). Traditionally most of the cull have been sold but this year they are destined for pet food. It’s not too late to buy or... Sign in to see full entry.

The Bain case continues. Last week concentrated on victim, Laniet Bain. The prosecution earlier presented a witness who claimed the behaviour of Laniet and David was closer to lovers than brother and sister. Another witness claimed she was afraid of David. She was shocked to find Eskimo marshmellows on sale here and says they are an insult to her people. She... Sign in to see full entry.

Industrial Autism

I come from a family noted for its individuals who display autistic behaviours. I have an interest in studies on this condition. I have nothing but contempt for studies, such as that published in the journal “Nuerotoxicity”, which claim autism is the result of environmental factors (my contempt is... I suppose I should be grateful that he didn’t argue that the murder wasn’t a crime at the time he committed it. Sign in to see full entry.

Despair

Susan St John, Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Auckland Business School wrote an opinion piece for the NZ Herald. She could have kept her opinions to herself. Background to the piece: John Key, Prime Minister of New Zealand, suggested at a meeting of a philanthropic group that... Sign in to see full entry.
