A Bear is born...
I am so looking for this coming weekend! You know why? It is "the back one hour" clock time! I just love the "fall back" (as much as I hate the spring forward); one more hour to lay in bed and contemplate the sky through the skylight over our heads. Of course at this time of year, it is often grey...

Daniel Lanois' concert
It was fantastic! The room wasn't too big (900 seats at most), the musicians were excellent, especially the drummer, Steve "something" from Detroit, and Daniel Lanois was as good as ever! It was nice to see him on such a small stage with just a few lights, real musicians, real music, real singer! No...

Daniel Lanois "En Spectacle"
Such a beautiful day today: the sun is out and reflecting on every little icy crystals that were formed during the cold night. It's like being in an enchanted world. I just feel like going out for a walk and taking thousands of pics of all that's around me. But I have four more articles to write and...

Mystery in the air
There is a feeling of mystery in the air this morning: it's been so cold last night that everything is covered with a white powder of fine crystals and the fog is so thick that I can not see across the river. It is really "féérique" (as in fairy tale). So, time for "tuques et mitaines" again! On a...

Difficult time ahead!
We're back to square one: Freeman is back at home with his very un-reliable brother and we don't know for how long his brother is going to stay with him. He'll probably just left when he has enough and won't tell anyone. Which will leave Freeman all by himself again! Freeman has decided to forego...

Tofu Burgers and teenagers
Still waiting for news of Freeman. I'll try to call the neighbours later on and let you know. I went to see my men downtown yesterday; they spend the week days in the apartment and I like to go visit them once or twice a week while doing any errands I need to do. We usually end out eating out, but...

A dream of black walnuts swaying in the wind..
Quite a few years back (over 12 years ago), my Mann had this great idea of planted trees on the property. In fact, on one part of the property that had been cleared for cattle, but that no longer has cattle on. I explain: the property is an old farm land (the original farm that gave its name to the...

Sickness and old age and denial
I was right to be worried about my old neighbour Freeman. We went to see him yesterday, he was at home for a short visit with his brother before going back to the hospital for the night. He didn't look to good; paler than usual and worn, still complaining of pain and pressure on the side of his...

The horror of a child-soldier
Still can remove the images of Omar Khadr out of my mind. Must have something to do with the fact that, like Taps mentioned, she has grandsons that age, I have a son about the same age as Omar was when captured. I think it is his parents that should be on trial to have endangered him like that in...

I am ashamed...
I couldn't sleep last night; too ashamed, and sad, and angry. What am I ashamed of? My country. I saw a documentary on Radio-Canada (the French pendant of our Canadian national broadcasting corp.,CBC) about Omar Khadr and the tortures he had to endure after being capture in Afghanistan. What is so...
