Our next day is your first day on the range, the cowboy range. You get on a horse. But is is a slow going. Uncle asks you repeatedly after breakfast, “So, you've never been on a horse?” “Never been on a horse.” “Never been on a horse?” “Never been on a horse.” “Well, then, I guess I have to baby you. I'll put you on Blossom. She's a light cream color, an Appaloosa. Real gentle, too.” We head to the barn, about fifty feet to the right of the driveway.
