My dad died and I wanted to throw dirt on myself, so I dug one day.....

Today is the second anniversary of my father's death. He died two days before my birthday and I wrote this poem two years ago. My children and their children and I all called him Puma for Grampa. It was a very good name for him. I posted this before and am doing it again on this anniversary day. My sister sent it out to all of us in the family today and made us all cry again. She's like that.......romantica y sentimental...... PUMA'S PATH With a broken hoe I hammer the earth in the shade of a... Sign in to see full entry.

3rd Opening for the book, or another chapter in the Jumble.

MARIPOSA STATION: Learning to Import "St. Dismas, you old thief, I so rarely call on you, please, please, please hear me now. I made six of you this year. Next year I'll make twelve of you, I swear. I always make you handsome, always dress you well. Hear me. Help me. St. Jestas, unrepentant fool, listen up, too. I may need you. If you help me, I'll begin to make you, too!" These words raced through my old brain as I stared bug eyed at the small bag of unrefined cane sugar or, angels save me,... Sign in to see full entry.

Rough revised beginning of my book? Maybe? Perhaps?

Nogales Customs: MARIPOSA STATION Crossing I had never done this before, unwrapping things and placing them out for the custom's agent to look over and inspect. This was the eighth hour of covering my hands with the ink of Mexican newsprint as I unwrapped cobalt blue drinking glasses and Talavera vases and clay angels. "It sure is chilly here," I complained as I rubbed my blackened hands together, the fingers like popsicles just about to melt. "Well, it could be July and we could be cooking like... Rough Draft of simple 1st Chapter of my book, sort of, minus additions and

changes. This is the loosest of first chapters, minus the beginning of the mystery, as it will be a mystery solved by Abuelita herself and I didn't even add it to the first chapter as yet. In truth, this may very well NOT be the first chapter, but it's where my fingers and wandering, scattered brain took me when I first sat down to write, or to begin to write.....my book. CHAPTER ONE San Francisco's head exploded and the lamb that he held flew out of his arms, taking off San Antonio's head,... Sign in to see full entry.

I have just found the best writer on the BN, a master storyteller.

If you go into Journal and click on Dead African Man Diaries by Jumai, I fail to make links, being an old and ignorant woman, you will find one of our newest arrivals on the BN. Jumai writes stories about his everyday life, just like yours and mine and those of your neighbors, friends and relatives. But, the words that he strings together are perfection and the stories have such an authentic voice, so full of love and compassion and pain and everyday details, that you feel as though you are... TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA DREAMS

I feel the power of one reporter and four turtles taking over my life......... The New Year makes you stop and ponder, doesn't it? You rethink that past year, what you did and what you failed to accomplish. If you're as old as I am, you may even rethink your life, not that much can be changed at this point, but you think about what possibly can be changed. As I face diving into those big dumpsters in the alleys behind my favorite restaurants and pushing my life's belongings around in an old... Sign in to see full entry.

4 Grandchildren, 3 Dogs, 1 Abuelita, & 22 LONG Hours…

The family gathered at my daughter's house for New Year's Day. We ate lightly, drank sodas and were forced to write out ten New Year's Resolutions by my third sister. The children ran wild, putting on Halloween costumes, playing in the upstairs bedrooms and caring for the one year old baby visiting with a friend. My Resolutions began, 1) I shall try to find a better red hair color this year. Needless to say, everyone else wrote more serious things. Some people decided to read theirs out loud. I... The Three Musketeer Dogs

You know me, I want everyone to get along and to even try to go beyond tolerating one another and move into loving one another. My old dog, Makeda, the eleven year old Dobie/Rottie, has resigned herself to living next to Autumn, my rescued one year old Terrier mix, and although they are still in the tolerating stages, I see accidental signs of love. The cause of this growing feeling between them is Bailey, the huge six month old Black Labrador puppy, who lives in the little house in my garden.... Sign in to see full entry.

I Can No Longer Remain Silent On This Subject

I have beliefs and keep them to myself unless asked by someone close to me, what do you believe about this subject? I rarely tell strangers what I really believe unless it is something safe and generic. But, someone in the news died today and I have to talk about someone I knew just like that someone who died and about the reasons why they both died. His name was Hector, a Hispanic American immigrant from Mexico whose family arrived here legally when he was two years old. He had no discernible... Sign in to see full entry.

Panic on the 24th of December, or not.

I woke up at eleven a.m. having eaten some fudge ripple ice cream just before bedtime. The sugar always beats me up and makes me sleep late. I know this and did it anyway. I opened up the front door to let the dogs go outside and go potty. I left the door open and got back into bed, under the thick down comforter. I had fallen asleep on the futon in the front room right in front of the door. I heard a buzzing at my ear and thought that it was a mosquito or a huge beetle or something. I peeked...
