Garden is veritable mosquito growing lab. Unused to these rains.

My garden is actually Growing, the plants are taller, fuller, greener and happier than ever before. Flowers bloom and I must cut things back often. But, the helpful planters' water holding bottoms are full of moisture, if not actual water, and the mosquitos are having fun propagating like locusts.... Sign in to see full entry.

This Fat Moist Desert Escapes Drought This One Year

The winter's rains have brought an exceptional Spring time to my deserts. It is now possible to count the Palo Verde and Mesquite trees from a distance. The top level of the desert canopy, if I can call it that, is either yellow flowering Palo Verde trees or gloriously green Mesquite tree tops. This... Sign in to see full entry.

Old Daddy Long Legs and the Earth Quaking Day

Old Daddy Long Legs lived in a plastic basket in the garden. On this one bright and sunny Spring day, while he quietly waited for dinner to be flown in, someone rocked his world. Then, they shook it and turned it upside down and beat upon it. He held on for dear life, riding out the turmoil and... Sign in to see full entry.

Oh Messy Garden that I Love...........

The rain has everything wet or damp, fallen or muddy, growing and scattered. The birds still gather in veritable herds and fight over the feeder. Noisy little things. The grandchildren kept running out into the garden at my party and shouting at the birds to 'cut that out'!!! The dogs are having fun... Sign in to see full entry.

I Live in a Sub-Tropical Desert, ever heard of them?

We have had more rain than ever this year. The Weeds, the weeds are HUGE. People's raggedy old gardens, unkempt and unweeded, look like tropical fields of chest high growth. The only problem is that these are weeds and they will seed and they will be a plague next year. Today, however, the city is... Sign in to see full entry.

My Garden is Knee Deep in Moisture and I can't wait to see the show !!

I cannot even imagine the glorious sights that await my aging eyes. This unusual rain pattern will make the desert pop with color and miniscule flowers and fields of wild flowers. I want to drive all over it when it happens and photograph the party. And the pollen is going to kill me. Small price to... Sign in to see full entry.

I found a Note in my Garden from the UPS man.

It read that my new computer had not been delivered because I was not home. The UPS man had to kick in my gate to make it open, as it was swollen shut from the rainiest winter in years. I hammered it back together. It now stands open, just wedged against its post lightly. I was gone when he visited,... Sign in to see full entry.

African Daisies, African Daisies, African Daisies Everywhere

My old garden sits in grey winter's end stillness, but the city is absolutely carpeted with yellow and orange daisies. My granddaughter and I spotted a one acre yard covered with them. Once I pointed them out to her, she hadn't noticed them before, her eyes were opened and made aware. She saw them... Sign in to see full entry.

Re-Paying my Crazy Homeless Gardener for Kindnesses

He came to rake the garden the other day while I was gone. Dillinger the Puppy had destroyed a towel and some other stuffed animal and there was a new mess inside the pretty place that Duncan had raked and picked up just the week before. I had no money to pay him, so I handed him some simple... Sign in to see full entry.

Only the Birds are Happy, Well, the Neighbor's Cat, too

The garden is soggy and cold and sorely neglected, poor thing. The furniture on the front porch is covered with things that I must donate to Freecycle.com and haven't had the time to list. My family put the things out there when they helped me to move my studio into the front room. They decided that... Sign in to see full entry.
